John M. Gleason, Founder & Principle, A Better View Strategic Consulting, LLC
John enjoyed a rewarding career at Procter & Gamble., spanning 2 decades.   Through diverse roles in Customer Services, Supply Chain, International Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and Design & Innovation organizations, John’s work touched every brand, category, function, and region – at some point in his tenure.   Notably (and pivotal to our discussions), John was the first P&G executive dedicated to leading and shaping external relationships for all of P&G’s design & innovation needs… later touching the broader spaces of creative, marketing, and implementation services.

In this role, it did not take long for John to see patterns in the way creative services and innovation firms showed up in the marketplace (and the way P&G engaged them).   Ultimately – interacting with more than 400 in just a 2-year span.   The most prevalent of these observations were:  a) they all sounded the same;  b) they did not know how to have a BUSINESS conversation;  and  c) their positioning and messaging were often not relevant to the client’s needs or business.

John also noted that most brands and corporations (the client “side” of the industry) seem to forget about who really buys and consumes their products and services, as they often do not seem to create brand solutions and experiences around the consumers’ lives.   This reality was a critical cornerstone of P&G’s “journey” to elevate and leverage Design – to move from “decoration” to life-solutions that delight.   But, very few organizations – aside from firms like P&G, Apple, OXO, Dyson, etc. – really understood the opportunities available through these kinds of capabilities, perspective, culture, and investments.   So, he decided he wanted to help change that.

Inspired by these observations and experiences, John founded A Better View Strategic Consulting, now approaching in its 5th year.

A Better View strives to deliver against 3 primary objectives:

  • to help creative enterprises become better businesses and better business partners;
  • to help brands and corporations elevate and leverage insights, design, and innovation as strategic business competencies… that lead to better business results;
  • to enhance the intersection of these creative relationships – to be better… together.

In short, it is John’s hope that his experiences, perspective, and guidance provide… a better view
