The Networking effort consists of several Networking subgroups that focus on general networking or networking in a specific industry, interest or geographical areas. We are also beginning a few new initiatives.

Networking Sub-Committees

General Networking Breakfasts

Assist in the planning of our Networking Breakfasts at St. Peter’s in the Loop, 110 W. Madison. Committee members will assist in securing event hosts and assisting with day of networking by serving as greeters and table moderators. For more information, contact the Club office 312.922.4663 or info@ndchicago.org.

CREATE (Construction and Real Estate)

The CREATE Network is designed to bring together alumni in the construction and real estate industry.

If you would like to be a part of the Core Committee, please contact Dede Simon domerdede@aol.com or John Talbot jotalbot@weaverboos.com.

Watch Club Announcements and the Club Website for upcoming CREATE events.

Attorney Network

The Attorney Network functions as a professional and social group for Chicago area alumni and law students. The Network gives members opportunities to meet attorneys and share information pertaining to their respective areas of law, for employment opportunities or advancement and for cross-referrals to members in their respective areas of expertise. To further the Network’s objectives, we have conducted presentations for CLE credit and hosted Happy Hours at the Emerald Club and Rivers Restaurant. We also have conducted a joint networking event with the ND EMBA program at the Metropolitan Club in the Willis Tower.

Should you want to become involved by being on the Core Committee for the Attorney Network, please contact David Carlson at DCarlson@baughdaltonlaw.com.

The Irish Entrepreneurs

This group normally meets every first Thursday of the Month, from 730am to 900am St. Peters Church (110 W Madison, Chicago) basement meeting room. (cost: $5 for church donation). Past meetings have included discussions of raising capital, both equity and debt, organizing a business and marketing plans and general discussions for individual businesses. Come meet interesting entrepreneurs, bring a relevant business topic or just participate in the discussion. For more information contact Mike Moran at mmoran@americanchartered.com.

Non-Profit Network

The Notre Dame Club of Chicago is re-launching the ND Nonprofit Network to help build relationships among alumni, students, family and friends who work in and with Chicago-area nonprofits.  The Network helps members of the ND community connect with nonprofit jobs, boards, and volunteer opportunities, and offers programs to support alumni in reaching related goals.

Alumni Business Network

The Alumni Business Network is a directory of businesses owned or operated by Notre Dame alumni, or businesses employing Notre Dame graduates.

Career Resources

The Notre Dame Club of Chicago and The University of Notre Dame are here to help!

myNotreDame

The University’s Career Center works with Alumni who are looking for employment all over the country. To reach the University, contact the Career & Placement Services at (574) 631-4055.

myNotreDame is also a great resource for finding other ND alums. You have access to the entire alumni database which allows you to search for ND alums in a certain geographical area that work in a certain industry or work for a certain company. The University Career Center can help you get more familiar with that process as well.

ONWARD

The Alumni Association, the Career Center, Mendoza College of Business and ND Law School have recently collaborated to create a comprehensive career and networking web program called ONWARD: Alumni Career Development.

The ONWARD website provides a variety of tools for job seekers, as well as those alumni who are looking to network with other alumni. The site includes job postings, seminars and webinars on various career topics, links to useful articles, and access to the alumni mentor program.

A Notre Dame alumnus has partnered with others having extensive experience in business, software and higher education to build a website called bridgemycareer. The mission of bridgemycareer is to help recent college graduates find meaningful and satisfying jobs and careers. Notre Dame has been asked to be a university partner in the piloting of bridgemycareer, which is described as a new and innovative online professional exchange that aligns recent grads with employers based on a flexible and powerful algorithm.
